Legal Regulations
There is no general legal right to a day off on public holidays in the Netherlands. Entitlement is determined by Collective Labour Agreements (CAOs) or individual employment contracts. Official public holidays do extend legal deadlines if they fall on a Saturday, Sunday, or such a holiday. According to some CAOs, there are eight recognized public holidays.
